Today was a pretty day. We went in search of Gold! We went to the Big Thunder Gold Mine in keystone. They only mined 3 ounces of gold out of it over 30 years and 680 feet!! Two men mined it by hand as a hobby! Made about $50 each over 30 years. pretty pathetic. It makes more now as a tourist attraction.
To get gold you could pan for it out of the streams and most people that kept at it got about an ounce a week. There were strip mines (deep shafts 1200 ft) that got about an ounce out of 7 ounces of ore and then there was a type that went after a vein of gold (like the big thunder mine) and these dig holes usually in the side of a mountain.
